In preparation of the wedding day

For Better & For Worse was first created by Nicoline Wisse Smit after her partner proposed to her. Although she said "yes", she had no idea what "I do" would mean to them. Playing the game proved to be a meaningful tool in learning more about themselves and the commitments they were about to make. In developing the marriage game she made use of her experience as a wedding celebrant in the Netherlands.

The first edition was released in October 2020. It sold out within three months. What started as a gift to her fiancé, was bought and being played by couples about to marry and couples celebrating wedding anniversaries. Also wedding celebrants like herself find the game a meaningful tool in preparing for the big day.

Upon the many requests she received for an English version, she decided to go for it. That is how the English edition was born. For now, in the testing phase, only available as a digital DIY kit.

"I really liked the game. It was a great excuse for my husband and I to sit and chat as opposed to working late night or watching TV. It is fun for both married couples and those just getting engaged."
